Welcome to CRM Analytics + Your Free Dev Org

Welcome, everyone! This is the very first stop on a long, rewarding journey into CRM Analytics — the analytics platform you may also know as Tableau CRM, Einstein Analytics, or its original code name, Wave. Whatever you call it, this course will take you from the absolute basics to building advanced dashboards and deploying predictive models with Einstein Discovery. If you have ever wanted to turn Salesforce data into insight, you are in the right place.

What this course covers

This is a structured, roughly 32-chapter journey, and each chapter builds on the last. Here is the shape of the road ahead:

  • Foundations & basic terms — the vocabulary and mental model you need before touching a single dataset.
  • Becoming a data expert — data sync, recipes, dataflows, and the datasets that power everything.
  • Advanced dashboards — bindings, SAQL, faceting, and polished, interactive design.
  • Einstein Discovery — stories, models, predictions, and augmented analytics.

You do not need to be a developer or a data scientist to follow along. If you know your way around Salesforce as an admin or power user, you already have the head start you need.

Get hands-on with a free practice org

The fastest way to learn CRM Analytics is to use it, so before we go any further, set yourself up with a free environment.

This Developer org is completely free, never expires the way a short trial does, and comes with CRM Analytics fully enabled plus sample data — the perfect sandbox for everything in this course.

Signup gotchas to avoid

Salesforce signups are easy, but a few small things trip people up. Follow these steps to save yourself the frustration:

  1. 1

    Use a valid email

You will click a verification link, so pick an inbox you can actually open.

  2. 2

    Choose any username

It is in email format but need not match your real email — it just has to be unique across Salesforce.

  3. 3

Set country to United States for English

The country you choose controls your org's default language, so pick United States unless you want another language.

  4. 4

Open the Verify link in a private window

Right-click the Verify button and open it in an incognito/private window so it does not clash with another Salesforce session you're already signed into.

  5. 5

    Dodge corporate email wrappers

Company security scanners can corrupt the verification URL. If the link will not work, sign up again using a different personal email.

Once you are verified, set your password and you will land inside a brand-new Salesforce org with CRM Analytics ready to go.

How to get the most out of this course

Treat every lesson as something to try, not just read. Each lesson pairs a short clip from a real training session with an original article that expands on it, a quiz to check your understanding, and interview-style questions to sharpen your recall. Watch the clip, read the article, then jump into your Developer org and reproduce what you saw.

By the time you finish, you will speak the language of CRM Analytics fluently, understand how data flows from source to dashboard, and be comfortable building analytics that people across a business actually want to use. Let's begin.
